EXHIBITION GOES OUT WITH A BANG

Today, the CFAD youth photo project officially ended, and we packed up all the photos. Thank you to all the organizations and individuals who came by, expressed interest in the project, shared comments in the exhibition book, and otherwise made this exhibition a huge success. Thank you in particular to the Ste-Emilie Skillshare — together, we’ll take over the neighborhood!

The photo project exhibition is ongoing until September 12th. The exhibition space is open during Ste-Emilie open studios, at the following times:
* Saturday September 5th from 1pm to 5pm
* Saturday September 12th from 1pm to 5pm

EXHIBITION OPENING A HUGE SUCCESS

The opening to the CFAD youth St-Henri photo project was a huge success. Thank you to the dozens of individuals, families, St-Henri residents, and friends who came out for it! Special thanks again to the Ste-Emilie Skillshare for hosting the exhibition and for all your support, as well as to Ryan Conrad and Shelley Power for your logistical support.

The exhibition opening is in just two weeks, for SUNDAY AUGUST 30TH from 1pm to 5pm. The vernissage will be at the Ste-Emilie Skillshare (3942 Ste-Emilie, corner St-Augustin), and the exhibition will run from Sunday August 30th to Saturday September 12th. We hope to see you there!

WEEK TWO …

Week two of the photo project consisted of going around St-Henri, taking photos of some of our favourite places, and starting to brainstorm about what we want to see included in the final exhibition at the end of the summer.

Today we had our first photo workshop, where we looked at different examples of photos, talked about composition and visual story telling, and then started taking our own photos in the alley behind CFAD.

The Ste-Emilie skillshare and gallery

A special thanks to the Ste-Emilie skillshare and the amazing folks who run it for use of your resources, for providing space for the final exhibition, for your ongoing logistical support, and for making this initiative possible in the first place.

CFAD has collaborated with the Ste-Emilie skillshare several times over the course of the past year, first by hosting the Kidz Day put on in collaboration with the Childcare Collective and Solidarity Across Borders, and then again to host a full-day silk screening workshop.

LAUNCH OF CFAD PHOTO INITIATIVE

This week, CFAD (Continuité famille auprès des détenues), an organization based in St-Henri, launched a photo initiative with the children and youth a part of CFAD’s PACE youth program. The project was created to forge space for the children and youth a part of CFAD to build means of creative expression, and share their experiences and ideas about community and neighborhood with a broader public.

The CFAD photo initiative will culminate in a final exhibition at the Ste-Emilie skillshare, a collectively run community art space, in St-Henri at the end of August.

This webpage was created to chart the progress of the photo initiative as it unfolds, as well as to create an archive of the work of the children and youth part of the CFAD community. For more information about CFAD, or the PACE program please see the links at the top of this page.
